We at the Scotlandville Adult Learning Center realize that many individuals and/or families have situations that can cause complications and problems. We have created a list of local resources that could help you in your efforts to find peace and stability within your life. Hopefully, our efforts to help you earn your GED, along with the efforts of others, can create a winning combination.
- North Baton Rouge Women's Help Center
- The North Baton Rouge Women's Help Center is a part of the Family Values Resource Institute, Inc. family, and it is located in the same building as SALC. It provides multiple services for those who find themselves pregnant, such as pregnancy testing and confirmation, counseling services, limited ultrasounds, and help with preparations before and after the birth of the baby. - Libraries in the Baton Rouge Area
- There are multiple public libraries through East Baton Rouge Parish, and one is probably located near you. (The Scotlandville branch is located next to SALC!) The libraries can assist you with information related to the GED, career preparation, and any other topic of personal interest. This information is provided through community programming, books, databases, etc. Please remember to ask the librarian(s) sitting at the reference desk any questions that you may have. - CENIKOR (Detox Center)
- CENIKOR is an organization with locations throughout Texas and Louisiana that helps people break the cycle of chronic substance abuse. The group provides both residental and outpatient services and has a location in Baton Rouge. Please visit the CENIKOR website for more information.
- Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention Center
- The Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention Center's mission is to prevent crisis situations and to help those who are going through or coming out of a crisis. There is a 24-hour hotline telephone number if a person needs immediate assistance and an online chat service for counseling. - Baton Rouge Rape Crisis Center
- The Baton Rouge Rape Crisis Center offers numerous services for those who have been victims of sexual assault. These services include, but are not limited to, a 24-hour crisis hotline, support during forensic medical exams, courtroom support, and individual/group counseling. - Capital Area Violence Intervention Center
- The Capital Area Violence Intervention Center provides support for battered women and their dependent children. Services are tailored to the individual woman's needs and may include, but are not limited to, emergency shelter, childcare, counseling, and transportation assistance.
