Vision
To empower families and individuals to achieve their
potential by overcoming barriers.
Mission
To see families and individuals in the Greater Baton
Rouge area receive the tools necessary to become productive,
self-sufficient citizens.
How Will our Mission
Be Accomplished?
By addressing the
educational, economical, and emotional barriers faced by
citizens in the Greater Baton Rouge area.
History
In January 1992, we began to provide services in the North
Baton Rouge area to primarily women and teens. However,
these services centered on pregnancy and non-pregnancy needs
and primarily involved women. Conversely, further
assessments revealed a need for still more diverse
services. In April 1998, we expanded our program to address
other identified needs and a new mission was adopted.
Family Values Resource Institute was established.
Effective January 2005, Restoration Ministries Inc. of Baton
Rouge (d.b.a.) North Baton Rouge Women's Help Center
formerly merged with Family Values Resource Institute, Inc.
to form one organization. The services previously provided
under Restoration Ministries remained the same, except they
will be provided under Family Values Resource Institute,
Inc.
Last year, over 1200 clients
received pregnancy testing, pregnancy confirmation, and/or
counseling. Over 200 clients received food, clothes,
and other baby items. Thirty-five young single mothers received
parenting education. Over 1500 students received
training on character development and STD’s prevention and
awareness. There were 50 students enrolled in the GED and
Literacy Program with 17 students receiving their GED
Certificates.
Today our staff consists of an
Executive Director, a Clinical Director, an Administrative
Assistant, a GED Instructor, a GED Instructor Assistant, a
Character Education Program Coordinator, four Character
Education Teachers, two Parenting Education Teachers, a
Fatherhood Program Instructor, a Data Entry Clerk, two
Transportation Driver, a Social Worker, a committed Board of
Directors, a Medical Board, an Advisory Board, and seven faithful
Volunteer Peer/Crisis Intervention counselors. Together we
administer to and provide services to over 2,000 men, women,
teens, and children per year.
Family Values Resource
Institute, Inc. means more skilled workers which can lead to
more employable citizens. It can also lead to an
increase in the educational opportunities for participants,
and a renewed confidence that can increase the
participants’ self-esteem, self-reliance and ultimately
change lives.
